  • Dotsure Basic Pet Insurance Plan: Covers vet bills from accidental injuries and up to 50% of illness-related claims.

  • Dotsure Standard Pet Insurance Plan: Covers 100% of vet bills and claims resulting from accidental injuries and illness.

  • Dotsure Superior Pet Insurance Plan: Covers bills resulting from accidental injuries, illness, and hereditary conditions, and includes wellness benefits.

  • Dotsure Ultimate Pet Insurance Plan: Covers bills resulting from accidental injuries, illness, and hereditary conditions, and includes wellness benefits to a greater extent.

Dotsure Accidental Pet Insurance Plan

This plan starts at R85 per month for both cats and dogs and offers minimal coverage. Luckily, there is no waiting period for accidental claims. Dotsure’s accidental pet insurance policies also include cover for third-party claims up to a maximum of R152,680 per year.

The annual policy limit for both species is R15,400, with a standard excess of 10% on all claims. This plan covers medication, surgery, radiology, pathology, hospitalisation cover, non-elective procedures, and non-elective euthanasia.

Dotsure Basic Pet Insurance Plan

Starting from R200 per month for cats and dogs, Dotsure’s basic pet insurance has an annual claim limit of R27,500. The third-party liability cover is increased to R229,020 per year. There are no waiting periods for accidental claims, however, illness-related claims have a waiting period of 30 days.

Dotsure’s basic pet insurance policies also cover medication, surgery, radiology, pathology, hospitalisation cover, non-elective procedures, and non-elective euthanasia. In addition to this, vet bills and expenses that result from illness are covered up to 50% of the claim amount.

Dotsure Standard Pet Insurance Plan

Touted as the policy that offers the most value for money, Dotsure’s standard pet insurance policy costs R352 per month. The annual limit for claims is raised to R38,500 while the third-party liability insurance remains the same as the basic pet insurance policy at R229,020 per year.

The annual claim threshold for medication, surgery, radiology, pathology, hospitalisation cover, non-elective procedures, and non-elective euthanasia claims remains the same as the basic pet insurance policy. The maximum amount you can claim per incident is increased compared to the basic pet insurance policy.

Dotsure Superior Pet Insurance Plan

Starting from R483 per month, Dotsure’s superior pet insurance policy offers coverage for accidental injuries, illness, hereditary treatments, and wellness benefits. The annual limit for claims is R76,450 and the third-party liability insurance limit is R382,030 per year.

Similar to the other plans, the superior pet insurance policy covers medication, surgery, radiology, pathology, hospitalisation cover, non-elective procedures, and non-elective euthanasia. In addition to this, the wellness benefit has an annual limit of R2310 and covers the costs of vaccination, deworming, flea medication, and more. The hereditary treatment benefit is capped at R3058 per year and covers inherited medical conditions only.

Dotsure Ultimate Pet Insurance Plan

Lastly, Dotsure’s ultimate pet insurance policy offers similar coverage to the superior pet insurance policy. All in all, medication, surgery, radiology, pathology, hospitalisation cover, non-elective procedures, non-elective euthanasia, wellness benefits, and hereditary treatments are covered. This policy is on the pricier side at R1,199 per month.

The limit for accidental injuries and illness claims is a whopping R44,880 per claim, with the third-party liability insurance remaining at R382,030 per year. There are also separate sub-limits on claims for cruciate ligament surgery, luxating patella surgery, and hip/elbow/shoulder surgeries.

Dotsure Exotic Pet Insurance Plan

Perfect for birds, reptiles or other exotic mammals, Dotsure’s exotic pet insurance policy offers basic coverage for accidental injuries and partial illness-related claims. The premiums are calculated based on the species of pet, for example, small exotic mammal owners can expect to pay R240 per month while small bird owners can expect to pay R144 per month.

The extent of coverage is also dependent on the species of animal, so be sure to check with a consultant first if you have specific concerns. The annual claim limit is R25,850 with third-party liability insurance of R216,150.

As with the rest of their pet insurance policies, there is no waiting period for accidental injury claims and there is a 10% excess fee on all claims. However, claims need to be accompanied by photographic evidence else there is an additional excess fee payable.

Dotsure Exotic Plus Pet Insurance Plan

If you’re a proud bird/reptile/exotic mammal owner and you’re looking for a pet insurance policy with more coverage and higher claim limits, Dotsure’s exotic plus pet insurance policy is an excellent option.

The extent of coverage and premiums still depend largely on the species of animal, and only accidental injuries and illness-related claims are accepted. The annual claim limit is raised to R30,250 and the third-party liability insurance is increased to R231,000.
