What Makes King Price Home Insurance Different?

King provides a comprehensive policy for safeguarding the contents of your home, along with competitive premium rates. Their policies are customized to the current value of the assets that are being protected. However, it is advisable for homeowners to inform the company of any changes in the value of these assets in advance, so that necessary adjustments can be made to the policy as soon as possible to ensure that the appropriate amount of money will be paid in case of property loss.

King Price Home Insurance Coverage Options and Benefits

King Price Comprehensive Home Contents Insurance

King Price Comprehensive Home Contents Cover provides coverage for any loss or damage to items that belong to you or to any members of your household who reside with you. However, it does not include coverage for items belonging to tenants. This insurance covers a wide range of possessions, from electronic devices such as TVs and tablets to luxury items like Tag Heuer watches. It also covers everyday items like shoes and sheets, as well as personal collections such as Sade CDs. Furthermore, it covers sentimental items like antiques passed down from your grandparents. With this product, you can rest assured that if you own it, it will be covered.

King Price Fire and Fury Cover

This product covers damages to your possessions caused by natural disasters such as storms or fires, but does not include coverage for theft or attempted theft. However, it is important to note that if a fire were to occur due to a burglary, this insurance would not provide coverage for any resulting damages. It is essential to consider these factors when selecting the right home contents insurance for your needs.

King Price Portable Possessions Cover

The Portable Possessions Cover is an insurance option that offers coverage for items that are frequently taken out of the home, such as laptops, tablets, designer bags, watches, and expensive jewellery. While traditional home contents insurance covers these items while they are at home, Portable Possessions Cover offers protection against loss or damage that occurs anywhere else. It is important to note that for jewellery and watches valued at more than R35,000, they must be specifically listed on your home contents policy schedule and kept in a safe when not in use. Additionally, if your jewellery is worth more than R15,000, valuation certificates will be required. Having these documents in order beforehand can save both time and hassle in the future when making claims.

King Price Building Insurance

King Price offers comprehensive building insurance that covers the physical structures on your property, including your home and its outbuildings. This insurance policy also provides coverage for various other physical items such as geysers, gate motors, garages, boreholes, tennis courts, palisade fencing, pools, patios, pumps, and pipes. The building insurance policy covers the loss of or damage to your buildings, geysers, and water pipes. It also includes accidental damage to fixed glass and sanitary ware, as well as water, gas, electricity, and phone connections.

It is important to note that the insurance policy does not cover dams and dam walls, loose gravel paths and coverings, or pool cleaning equipment. For those with a thatch roof, lapa, or other thatch-related items, it is crucial to inform King Price, as coverage is available but only if they are aware of these features.

Additionally, if you need to call the fire brigade, King Price provides coverage for that as well.

Pricing and Discounts of King Price Home Insurance Products

The cost of premiums that a policyholder pays for home insurance is determined by the value of the assets being protected. In order to simplify the quotation process and ensure that all assets are covered, King Price has developed an inventory form that can be downloaded, completed, and submitted to the company. Once a prospective policyholder fills out this form, the company can generate a quote instantly, taking into account all of the valuable items that are highlighted.

It’s worth noting that King Price does not offer any specific discounts for its home insurance products.

Where King Price Home Insurance Can Improve

King Price may consider tailoring exclusive discounts for home insurance products as a reward to loyal customers or those who have upgraded their plan to include broader coverage. It is worth noting that King Price’s home insurance policies do not currently cover items such as cellphones, prescription glasses, bicycles, and hearing aids. However, policyholders who have a comprehensive home contents policy can opt to add these items to their coverage by paying an additional R1 per month. Unfortunately, those who have signed up for other policies will not have access to this benefit and will need to purchase a separate portable possessions policy if they wish to protect these items.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

King Price classifies coverage for swimming pools under homeowners’ insurance, which is also known as building insurance. It’s worth noting that while swimming pools and their corresponding pumps are typically covered under this insurance, pool cleaning equipment is not covered.

King Price considers fitted carpets – those that are attached to the floor – as part of the immovable structures, fixtures, fittings, and improvements that constitute your home. Consequently, these carpets are covered by the building’s insurance. However, loose carpets and rugs that aren’t attached to the floor are not classified as immovable structures and therefore should be covered under a home contents policy rather than building insurance. By knowing the distinctions between these types of coverage, homeowners can ensure that their carpets and other belongings are adequately protected in the event of damage or loss.

Home contents insurance functions by providing coverage for stolen or damaged possessions at home. However, before receiving this compensation, several factors are taken into account. Firstly, an excess is typically deducted from the payout, which is the amount agreed upon in the insurance policy that the policyholder must pay before receiving any compensation. Additionally, under-insurance – which occurs when the insured value of the contents is less than their actual value – may also be taken into account. For example, if the policyholder insures their contents for R20,000 but their actual value is R40,000, and they make a claim for R5,000 for a stolen television, only half of the claimed amount will be paid out.

King Price does not provide coverage for damage caused by insects or pests such as termites, rats, or moths. It’s important for homeowners to be aware of these exclusions and take the necessary steps to prevent damage from pests. By doing so, they can ensure that their homes and possessions are protected to the fullest extent possible.
